Milk Culture

Staph aureus, Mycoplasma spp, Prototheca spp.

You will receive a call or text as soon as we find any contagious pathogen in one of your milk samples.

Your milk culture results can be automatically added to your DairyComp at no additional cost.

In addition to standard aerobic, and Mycoplasma spp. specific culture, we also have a PCR machine that can test for Mycoplasma spp. in hospital milk samples.

We can check milk and colostrum samples for all of the following pathogens.

  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Mycoplasma spp.
  • Coagulase Negative (Environmental) Staph
  • Streptococcus spp.
  • Coliform bacteria (E. coli, Pseudomonas spp., Klebsiella spp, Salmonella spp.)*
  • Prototheca (algae)
  • Yeasts and Molds
  • Trueperella pyogenes (aka Arcanobacter pyogenes and C. pyo.)
  • Coryneform bovis
  • Streptococcus agalactia

*We typically report all these four bacteria as “Coliform” (E. coli in DairyComp). If you request ahead of time, we can specifically report which of these are present.
